Lauren holds a MA in Global Finance, Trade, and Economic Integration from the prestigious Josef Korbel School of International Studies with concentrations in International Development and Nonprofit Management. She also holds a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University. She has consulted for numerous NGO’s around the world, streamlining project management systems and creating monitoring and evaluation strategies. Working across multiple sectors such as global health, microfinance, and community development, has cemented her passion for building underlying economic capacity - the only sustainable solution to endemic cyclical poverty. She currently resides in Colorado Springs with her two children, ages 17 and 10.

Daniel Shterk

Director of Operations

Daniel grew up in a family of immigrant refugees from the Soviet Union, and has seen the value of entrepreneurship since an early age, his family building their lives from scratch through small businesses in Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in International Business and went on to open a small business of his own and manage projects, databases and communication campaigns for international translation firms, international sports media organizations, insurance providers and more. Before joining Alternativ, Daniel spent time traveling around Europe and Northern Africa consulting for international organizations. He’s fluent in Russian and Spanish.

Meg is an educator, administrator, and artist originally with roots in Massachusetts, USA and Dunedin, New Zealand. After studying Theatre Education and Spanish Language & Literature at Northwestern University, she spent 5 years as producer and creative in Washington DC's theatre scene, where she worked at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Imagination Stage, as well as with many small non-profit theatre companies, which fueled her passion for entrepreneurship. Meg spent time volunteering in Peru where she witnessed, first hand, the need for business training & support. Meg’s background in drama and script design, combined with her passions surrounding education and development, allowed her to fit seamlessly into a role in developing additional Alternativ training programs.

Silvia studied Math and Architecture before deciding to pursue her passions in Languages. In her free she explores photography, scrapbooking, and amateur online influencing. With Silvia’s design and video editing skills, she has been spearheading the development of Alternativ’s online digital Staff training programs in Spanish. She is passionate about Alternativ mission’s to bring business empowerment to communities all over the world. Silvia joined The A Team via her internship in Spain, facilitated by Daniel and One Small World Group.

Clara Lecadre, French Language Program Coordinator

Clara is originally from Corsica, a French island in the Mediterranean. She left the island to study in Nice, France and is now pursuing her doctorate in linguistic studies. Clara speaks five world languages fluently, English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German. She currently helps Alternativ refine and contextualize training and other material to serve French speaking partner organizations and communities around the world.

Juan Vigueras Lopez, Translator

Juan is currently completing his degree of Translation in Universidad de Murcia. He speaks Spanish, English and French fluently and is currently improving his German. Juan has interned in several non-profit environmental organizations in Spain, specifically, those dedicated to the protection of endangered species. He is currently helping Alternativ with its work in El Salvador, helping to coordinate in developing new material in Spanish. Juan, like Silvia, is able to join The A Team via our partnership with One Small World Group.

Amanda Vinton Weisseg

Amanda received her Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School and holds both a BA in Psychology and a BS in Criminal Justice from Northern Arizona University. She is licensed to practice in Colorado and Texas focusing on estate planning and trust and estate administration. She has been practicing law for close to 12 years and founded The Vinton Law Firm, P.C. in 2011. She is a member of Wealth Counsel, an active community of over 3,600 estate planning and wealth management professionals. Ms. Vinton Weisseg is also a member of the Colorado State Bar Association, the El Paso County Bar Association and the Probate Section of the El Paso County Bar Association.

In addition to serving with Alternativ, Ms. Vinton Weisseg also volunteers with CASA of the Pikes Peak Region. She and her husband live in the Black Forest and have travelled with Alternativ to facilitate trainings and conduct follow-up research.

Jenna Wagner

Jenna holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations and Human Resource Management, as well as certificates in International Business and Supply Chain Management from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She also holds Certificates of Biblical Studies and Business Ministry Leadership from Torchbearers International, New Zealand. Jenna spent ten years in corporate analytics, consulting, and project management, enabling Fortune 500 clients to optimize their customer experiences, improve operations, and implement new strategic partnerships. In 2016, after a trip to Africa with a community development organization, she shifted gears to work specifically in addressing physical and spiritual poverty. She is currently a freelance consultant focused on operational efficiency and effectiveness in the non-profit and social enterprise sector. Jenna lives in Colorado and enjoys traveling, volunteering at her church, reading, and playing in the great outdoors.

His vast background of lifeguarding, coaching, firefighting, and military expertise are reflective of his devotion to help and serve others. Amanda Foltz

Amanda has a passion for entrepreneurship. She believes it is a gateway to freedom. She has founded multiple companies and uses them to make a difference in this world. Currently, she is Founder and CEO of Foltz International LLC where she runs a global real estate company in Denver, Colorado. Amanda is relentless when it comes to seeing those in bondage set free. For over 10 years she has been speaking, educating and empowering others to walk in freedom using her personal testimony. Her passion to end human trafficking has taken her all around the world. She is the author of the book, Battle Cry, a call to arms against human trafficking. Amanda and her husband Joshua are currently traveling the world and exploring new places.

 

New Horizons Foundation Board of Directors

The Alternativ Project is under the fiscal management of the New Horizons Foundations. New Horizons supports the charitable objectives of their projects. They currently have over 400 projects helping people change the world by turning their vision into reality.
