How We Work
Alternativ’s curriculum model is based on two main beliefs: all people deserve to thrive economically, and all people have the ability to direct their destiny with the proper tools.
With our international partners, we’ve delivered our entrepreneur training course, the Business Essentials Program, in more than 15 countries. The curriculum, which consists of 16 sessions and is conducted over the course of 30-40 hours, is comprised of content and interactive activities meant to touch on the most essential skills necessary to start or improve a small business.
Our program graduates go on to start many diverse businesses. Examples include corner stores, beauty salons, taxi services, AC repair, water kiosks, movie theaters, agricultural businesses, coffee roasters, coffee/tea shops, restaurants, daycare centers, book and school supply vendors, and artisan goods.
The program is designed to equip national leaders to manage and monetize the long-term impact in their communities. These local leaders are required to follow up with graduates through consistent mentorship and support.
Step 1
We partner with organizations, businesses, and individuals invested in communities around the globe with a desire to educate and support their local entrepreneurs.
Step 2
We train these partners on our Business Essentials Program, and specifically, how to deliver the content in their individual contexts around the world.
Step 3
Our Business Essentials training program is delivered to participants, either directly through our partners and their local staff, or through our team onsite.
